Great places to have a wedding

For quite a few people their wedding will be one of the major events in their life. For a few people many thousands will be spent. Some couples will even choose to make travel plans beyond their cities.  One of the best places to have a wedding is in San Diego.  Let’s take a look at a couple of reasons.

When couples are planning their wedding location is a big choice.  For those couples that can afford it going to a different city is an exciting option.San Diego is one city that always come to mind because of some reasons.  Now of course this is going to come from first hand experience working with a lot of couples as a San Diego photographer. So the experience I have gained brings a great insight to the table.

One of the big reasons is weather.A lot of weddings are performed in the summer. Well most places in the summer are extremely hot. One of those places that is bearable is San Diego. The weather is really not that bad on the coast. This is another big reason because of the photography.  As a San Diego wedding photographer I appreciate good weather. It gives chances for some great shots to be taken.  It provides a more comfortable shooting arrangement. Where the wedding party isn’t too uncomfortable in the heat.

Another reason to consider is San Diego is really a great location for events. It has a lot of very good hotels that will house your guests.  It has plenty of activities so your guests can turn it into a mini vacation. Doing event photography San Diego has allowed me to see how this works out beautifully. Make no mistake a wedding is a huge eventSo the job that you will do for them is really what you would call event photography.San Diego is one that offers a great location for this kind of thing.

It is a hope that these few insights is going to give you some feedback to help you make a better choice when making a decision about your wedding location.

When most couples plan their wedding day they take a lot of things into consideration. They coordinate the date according to vacation times from work. Or they coordinate the wedding day for the family to be able to make it into town.  Or they plan it based upon maybe available venues, like the church or the restaurant.

But one of the biggest things couples fail to plan for is the photographer.  This is no small matter.  And I am not just saying it because I am a wedding photographer

No planning the wedding day with the wedding photographer in mind could mean all the difference in the world. Especially when you consider the pictures are what is going to be captured for a lifetime.

So what are the key factors to consider when planning with the photographer in mind.  The time and the date.

Let’s begin talking about time.  How many couples would want their photographer rushing through the photo shoot?  I am pretty sure most people will not raise their hand to that.

Without even considering your photographer, a majority of the times most couples do just that. The couple or family basically rush the photographer to try and take all the pictures.

How so you say?  Well a lot of times, the couple will schedule the ceremony for let’s say 1-2 pm.  With the reception starting at 2:30. How many photos can the photographer really take with only half an hour to work with?  Not many.

Worse thing to consider, what if he does manage to take all the photos? Do you think they can take some real good shots if they are being rushed?  Of course not.

So plan the times for the wedding and the reception with enough space in between to take all the photos.

Second thing to consider when planning with the photographer in mind is your photographer’s availability.

Most probably don’t realize this, but most good photographers will be booked months in advance. If you do deal with a large photo company, they very well could have several photographers on staff.

Well planning your wedding without considering your photographer’s availability could turn into a nightmare. Because when you reserve that special day, without making sure your photographer is available, come wedding day you might get a shock when you find somebody totally different.

This happens more than you can imagine when dealing with a big photography company.  You might not realize they have plenty of photographers on staff, and if the photographer you fell in love with is booked, unless you specifically ask, the company might not tell you.  When your wedding day comes, they might just outsource their work or a second rate photographer might show up.

Be prepared that you don’t let something like this happen.Making plans for your wedding day is special. Make sure that your plan has the wedding photographer in mind as well.

In this age of digital cameras, you have probably thought that you can just point and shoot and out will appear a great shot.Hold on, don’t go so fast.  The truth is you can have the top of the line digital camera, but if you don’t know what you are doing, you will take lousy shots.

Well, I’d love to share with you some great advice in photography to help improve your skills.  These tips are coming from years of experience as a San Diego wedding photographer. These tips are about using lighting and they will be some of the best advice and keys to your success in taking great photos.

First tip in lighting. Now if the shots you are taking are outdoors during the day, some of the best lighting possible will be the natural sunlight.  Now you are probably thinking, “that’s easy, when you are a San Diego photographer since it is always shiny there”, when in actuality really bright sunlight can cast harsh shadows.Or it will wash out the face details while the sun is overhead.

Overall, you are going to want to take most of the shots with the sun behind you.  This prevents the harsh shadows that can be caused by the sun.But there will be those times and instances when you want different angles to get those shadows into the shots.

Now that we have tackled the day shots, what if you are taking shots at night?

The key to taking photos at night is turning off your flash.  Of course if it is pitch black you will need it, but for times when there is lighting, you want to use the lighting that is around, but you have to make sure you set your shutter speeds slower to let in enough light. Also, stay steady when you are taking your photograph or you will cause the picture to blur.Doing these tricks should make a significantly dramatic difference when you take night shots.

The final piece of advice to use for lighting is using the golden hour to capture great shots. Now there is a time that photographers refer to as the “golden hour” or “magic hour”, and that is during sunrise and sunset.

These times of day you wll be able to capture great shots because you will get the more warmer and inviting colors. You’ll be able to get that golden lighting that isn’t available during any other time of day.

There you go.  Probably the biggest key in taking greatshots is to make sure you take advantage of the natural lighting.  Knowing what techniques to use for different parts of the day, or just scheduling a photo shoots to capture those times of day will help you become an excellent photographer.
